San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Corporation formed to help people involved with managing feral/outdoor/free-roaming cats. These cats can reproduce quickly and so if you are concerned, and especially if you are feeding outdoor cats, we can help.
ATTEND A FREE WORKSHOP JUST ONCE FOR A LIFETIME OF BENEFIT!
In order for us to help you and to qualify for the advantages of access to low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, free trap loan and advice on how to control the outdoor cat population humanely - you must first attend a FREE Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) workshop. The workshop also gives safety tips on how to complete your TNR project without getting hurt. You only need to attend ONE workshop ONCE, to qualify to use our program. Once you attend, there is no need to attend a second time, unless you want to. Please refer to the schedule for dates and locations of upcoming workshops on our Events page.
The workshop will answer most of your questions but you can also refer to our Frequently Asked Questions.
San Antonio Animal Care Services (SA ACS) are accepting applications for outdoor cat colony permits regardless of the number of cats you are caring for. This is a wonderful change in their protocols. Read more about why you should apply for a permit.
We have been awarded our 2nd grant from The San Antonio Area Foundation which allows us to begin our popular Cat-Nip Voucher Program again! Last year it was a huge success allowing 239 cats to be spayed and neutered. Vouchers can be obtained at Workshops or by calling our Helpline at 877-9067. The vouchers are worth $50 for a male neuter or $75 for a female spay at our participating vet clinics. Please click on the Cat Nip Voucher link to the left for details and the list of our participating veterinarians.
We are now offering our popular Feral Cat Workshop 4 times a month at various locations around San Antonio. The dates, times and locations vary to make it possible for everyone to attend a workshop within a reasonable distance and to suit different schedules. Check out our events page for information.
San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition cats that have been rescued by volunteers are available through Petfinder.com (shelter ID TX841). You may view a current list of our adoptable cats. Please note that all animals that SAFCC adopts out are already spayed or neutered and are current on vaccinations.
We offer free loan of our traps once you have completed our TNR Workshop. Loans are for 2 weeks and require a $65 deposit per trap, refunded upon return. Checks for deposit can be made out to SAFCC. We do not take credit cards. To be refunded the full deposit, traps must be cleaned prior to return with any cleaner except bleach (causes rust). Up to 3 traps can be checked out at a time, depending on our limited inventory. For large colony projects, speak with your Workshop Instructor or Trap Loan Volunteer.
SAFCC has the only 24/7 Helpline in San Antonio dedicated to outside cats. A pre-recorded message will ask the caller to leave their name, number and reason for calling. One of our Volunteers will then return their call. We make every effort to return calls within 24 hours however some of our Helpline Volunteers work full time. Some calls ask us to come pick up cats or are seeking help for sick or injured cats. Please note we are not a rescue organization. We can, however, educate, give advice, and refer callers to an appropriate resource, as necessary. Our primary mission is to provide the training and equipment to help people spay and neuter outside cats at low cost. We are always looking for new Helpline Volunteers who are dedicated to the same goals we are and have some free time!
